Guiyang presses forward with animal waste utilization

A municipal news conference was held on Dec 14 in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, during which it was stated that in recent years, Guiyang has been adhering to the green development of animal husbandry by collecting and disposing of animal waste and turning it into pollution-free fertilizer for farmland.

The animal feces disposal is an integral part of rural environment governance. Statistics show that in 2021, Guiyang's comprehensive animal waste utilization rate was 90.13 percent, 3.7 percent higher than the provincial average.

This year, Xiuwen county and Qingzhen city have undertaken two national animal waste disposal and utilization projects, which will further enhance their animal waste treatment capacity, reduce pollution, and cultivate more organic farmland.

Liu Li, an official from the Guiyang agriculture and rural affairs, said that the city will continue to focus on the sustainable development of farming and animal husbandry, as well as on the supervision and management of the working conditions of animal husbandry.
