A number of measures have been taken to foster professional rural workers in Guian New Area and Guiyang, capital of Southeast China's Guizhou province, in order to promote rural vitalization, local media reported.
Sources from the Guiyang bureau of agriculture and rural affairs said that since the start of this year, Guian New Area and Guiyang have made consistent efforts to cultivate professional rural workers, such as farming professionals, agricultural technicians and managers. By Dec 15, around 13,000 new rural professional workers have been trained and will contribute to local rural development.
As part of such efforts, Guiyang and Guian mapped out a plan for the development of agricultural and rural professionals in the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25) and made clear the priorities for fostering talented personnel in the agricultural sector.
It also worked out 22 concrete measures to develop new-type agricultural operational entities, including measures to offer financial incentives for large-scale farming.
In the work program for increasing farmer incomes between 2022 and 2025, Guiyang and Guian pledged to provide subsidies to senior agricultural technicians.
In 2023, Guiyang and Guian plan to cultivate around 13,500 professional rural workers, officials said.
Guian New Area is a national inland demonstration area for economic opening-up. Guizhou is one of the least developed regions in China.
