Last year, Guiyang and Guian New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province prioritized farmland water conservation facility renovation work, repairing 23 irrigation pumping stations and 352 water conservation facilities in the field, involving an irrigation area of 6,666.67 hectares, according to news reports on Jan 2 from the Guiang bureau of agriculture and rural affairs.
According to the farmland water conservation facility renovation work plan for Guiyang and Guian from 2021 to 2024, over the three-year period, the two regions plan to repair 88 irrigation pumping stations and 1,041 water conservation facilities.
The result of each county-level farmland water conservation facility project will be reviewed by the municipal government and funded by both municipal and county governments.
Guiyang and Guian will continue efforts to repair water conservation facilities this winter to ensure farmland irrigation can be carried out as normal, which will lay a solid foundation for spring farming.
