Guiyang steps up rural vitalization

Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has pledged to take stronger measures to accelerate agricultural and rural modernization, improve the efficiency of agricultural development, and promote the high-quality development of work related to agriculture, rural areas and farmers, local media reported.

A conference on the development of rural areas in the city was held on Feb 18, with participants vowing to double down on rural vitalization efforts.

Geng Kun, an inspection specialist for the Guiyang bureau of agriculture and rural affairs, said his bureau will implement the guiding principles of the conference, carry out the action plan of high-quality development of the seed industry to ensure food security, make efforts to promote the mechanization of the cultivation and harvest of major crops, boost rural vitalization and realize agricultural modernization.

Wang Peiguan, a senior agronomist at the agricultural service center of Gaofeng town in Guian New Area, said that the village will promote agricultural mechanization, continue to promote the high-quality development of the rice industry and improve the overall efficiency of cultivated land.

Zhou Qikang, an official from the bureau of agriculture and rural affairs of Xifeng county, said that his bureau will strive to contribute to the consolidation of food security, focusing on the construction of demonstration fields and improving yields.

While consolidating the achievements of poverty alleviation, the county will promote the high-quality and healthy development of agriculture and rural vitalization and strengthen and expand the competitive agribusiness.

Wang Dazhi, Party secretary of Minle village in Qingzhen, said that as the leader of the village, he will lead villagers to accelerate the construction of high-quality fruit and vegetable picking bases, promote local opera, and make full use of existing resources to ensure that the village's collective operating income remains above 1 million yuan ($145,458).
