Guiyang holds agricultural machinery exhibition

Guiyang in Southwest China's Guizhou province launched an agricultural machinery exhibition on Feb 28 in Liuyu village of Kaiyang county to teach farmers how to use the machines for spring ploughing.

The Guiyang bureau of agriculture and rural affairs organized for agriculture companies to display more than 10 types of machines, such as plant protection unmanned aerial vehicles, shoulder carrying mowers, and rice seeders.

Guiyang and Guian New Area have been popularizing the use of agricultural machinery to boost the efficiency of the ongoing spring ploughing. Statistics show that in 2022, 136,000 agricultural machines were used, and about 1.71 million mu (114,000 hectares) of land was cultivated using the machines.

Meanwhile, last year, the city collected more than 15 million yuan ($2.16 million) in subsidies and funds from the upper governments and so far has established 78 agricultural machinery social service organizations.

In 2023, Guiyang plans to put 125,000 agricultural machines into use during the spring ploughing period and arrange technicians to maintain and repair the machines.
