Over the past year, Guiyang in Southwest China's Guizhou province recorded 34.49-billion-yuan ($5-billion) output in farming, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery, up 4.5 percent year-on-year, and ranking first in the province. The per capita disposable income for permanent rural residents also increased by 6.6 percent, and now stands at 21,925 yuan.

The government has worked hard to maintain stable food security and to prevent large-scale poverty from returning. It has been focusing on the rural development and rural governance to improve rural housing, water, waste, toilet and life-style management.

Additionally, Guiyang's government has been giving priority to cultivating major family-owned farms, professional cooperatives, and leading agriculture companies in order to form a modern agricultural operating system.
