Big data facilitates rural vitalization

Along with the completion of digital information infrastructure in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, big data is playing an increasingly significant role in boosting rural vitalization.

Over the past decade, relying on its strength in big data, Guiyang has gradually digitalized agriculture, rural life and governance.

Xiuwen county, for example, has been growing kiwi fruit for over 30 years. The orchard information, growth process, and testing reports of every kiwi fruit are now traceable with an attached QR code. The county currently boasts 38 such kiwi plantations registered on the big data platform.

In addition, the pilot planting zone for kiwi fruit, blueberries, potatoes and tea have all been equipped with real-time environmental monitoring systems, helping farmers manage fruit growth in a more targeted manner.

Since October 2020, when it first became a national digital rural pilot zone, Xifeng county has built an agricultural information sharing platform.

In addition, Guiyang set up six county-level logistics service centers and 50 4G base stations last year, and all villages with more than 30 households are now connected to a 4G network.
