Bureau calls to improve vegetable supply capability

A municipal development promotion meeting for the vegetable industry was held on May 11 by the Guiyang bureau of agriculture and rural affairs.

The meeting was hosted by Gan Zhaohui, deputy head of the bureau, who also revealed the key work undertaken by the bureau and the next steps it will take.

The meeting highlighted the vegetable industry as the backbone of agriculture, and one that is closely connected to people's welfare, which is why it should be given priority. Officials were urged to optimize the industrial layout to promote the high-quality development of all sectors in the industry, especially the pepper and edible fungi producing sectors.

Government bodies were encouraged to tap the development potential of both low- and high-altitude areas, as well as places surrounding urban areas, and carry out differentiated development plans, in order to improve the city's vegetable supply capacity.
