The demonstration farmland around the Longbao Dam in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has applied pollution-free rice disease and insect prevention and control approaches.
For example, farmers are advised to use non-woven fabrics to raise rice seedlings to reduce the number of lissorhoptrus oryzophiluses, install pest-catching devices, and feed ducks at rice fields.
In addition, scientific rice disease and insect monitoring and report work has begun. Compared with other rice fields nearby, the demonstration farms have reduced chemical pesticides by more than 30 percent.
Moving forward, the Guiyang bureau of agriculture and rural affairs and Guiyang bureau of science and technology will give full play to internet of things technologies on the demonstration farms to practice the concept of digital agriculture and strengthen rural vitalization.
