Meeting urges gov officials to better serve seed industry

The Guiyang bureau of agriculture and rural affairs held a symposium on supporting the development of enterprises in the seed industry in Guiyang City and Guian New Area on Aug 11.

Representatives from 12 key enterprises of the industry in grain and oil, vegetables, edible fungi, swine, and poultry raising, aquaculture, traditional Chinese medicine, and other sectors spoke about the problems and needs in terms of technological innovation support, seed breeding base improvement, variety innovative research and development, policy and funding support, financial assistance, and seed insurance models. Officials of the bureau provided answers to their questions.

Guiyang City and Guian New Area have established a collaborative model that involves the partnership of businesses, research institutes, and bases. This model encourages financial institutions to provide greater credit support to these businesses.

Two new seed industry centers have recently been launched in Guiyang, including the Guiyang (Guanshanhu) Modern Seed Industrial Park and the Yuelu Mountain Guiyang Seed Industry Innovation Center. 

The meeting also required relevant functional departments to develop practical solutions to the demands and suggestions put forward by enterprises and provide one-stop services for them. The aim is to build a complete modern seed industrial chain covering scientific research and development, seed information, processing and logistics, and marketing services.
