Bureau promotes green, sustainable agriculture

The Guiyang bureau of agriculture and rural affairs held a conference on Aug 24 to promote green agricultural production projects for 2023.

The meeting focused on the deployment of scientific fertilization, pollution-free pest control, the utilization of organic fertilizer and straw, and the recycling of agricultural waste film.

The meeting emphasized the importance of prioritizing ecology and promoting green development, ensuring food security and stable supply of major agricultural products, transforming agricultural production methods, and promoting the intensive utilization of agricultural resources.

The meeting stressed the need to set up organic waste disposal stations to establish a recycling model utilizing vegetable leftovers, crop straw, and animal manure.

Furthermore, the meeting highlighted the importance of establishing a number of green countryside demonstration sites, strengthening the application of scientific fertilization technologies, promoting the utilization of organic fertilizers, and enhancing the prevention and control of plastic pollution in farmlands to protect the quality of cultivated lands.

The bureau this year has approved the implementation of seven green production projects with a total investment of 9.15 million yuan ($1.28 million) in Baiyun, Huaxi, and Wudang districts, Xifeng county, and Qingzhen city.
