The Guiyang bureau of agriculture and rural affairs has responded to the requirements of the central government during the current year and focused on the standard of living and quality of life in the rural areas.
Rural housing, toilets, the overall lifestyle, the water system and waste are five aspects in boosting conditions in the rural areas of Guiyang city and the nearby Guian New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province.
At present, the municipal governments have rolled out campaigns to renovate 7,225 rural houses, repair 3,968 dilapidated houses and carry out 15 water supply projects. They have also kick-started campaigns to dispose of the sewage of 154 villages, purify polluted water in seven rivers and lakes, process 84,000 metric tons of rural household waste and construct new toilets for 73,920 rural families.
The bureau has formed an investigation team to identify more problems, such as faulty garbage classification methods, inadequate farm produce market management and insufficient infrastructure. The call has been made to address these problems immediately.
