An ecological fishery has three advantages over a traditional fishery – it uses less water, is cheaper to manage, and offers more control over seafood quality.

Guiyang and Guian New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province have developed ecological fisheries using circulating water. After four years, the fisheries have achieved promising results, with the seafood output for this year standing at 5,000 metric tons, a 200-percent increase compared with that in 2018.

To date, Guiyang and Guian have established more than 30 large-scale ecological fishery bases, ensuring the stable supply of seafood.
