Actions taken to ensure winter farming success

Guiyang City and Guian New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province have been implementing the agricultural production tasks set by the provincial government. The Guiyang and Guian winter farming guidelines were formulated, and all production tasks have been sub-divided for districts, counties and county-level cities.

Governments at all levels are urged to establish reap production statistical accounts and farmers are encouraged to use fertilizers and pesticides scientifically.

A total of 53.01 metric tons of rapeseeds, 17,700 tons of fertilizers, 25.44 tons of pesticides, and 340.32 tons of agricultural film have been stored for autumn sowing. The 24-million-yuan ($3.34 million) crop rotation project fund will be used to subsidize farmers.

Statistics show that by Oct 25, Guiyang and Guian had planted 22,080 hectares of reap and are expected to achieve their reap production goal before Nov 15.
