On Feb 6, news from Guiyang bureau of agriculture and rural affairs suggested that in 2023, the cumulative operating income of the 996 administrative villages in Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area exceeded 600 million yuan ($83.58 million), an 18-percent year-on-year increase, with an average of 600,000 yuan per village.

Last year, Guiyang and Gui'an persisted in the innovation-driven reform and achieved new results in the development of the village collective economy.

In order to effectively address the issues of unclear market entities, inactive mechanisms, insufficient incentives, and lack of vitality in the village collective economy, Guiyang and Gui'an developed various forms of cooperative stock partnerships, paving the way for collective income growth, and an increase in income for farmers.

Last year, 50 pilot villages achieved operating income of 51.65 million yuan, with an average of over 1 million yuan per village. This was thanks to more than 2,000 rounds of on-site guidance, and over 200 self-inspections and self-rectifications by government leaders at the municipal, county, and township levels. Approximately 63 underdeveloped villages saw their operating income exceed 10 million yuan.

As of now, nearly 100 villages in Guiyang and Gui'an have completed annual operating profit distributions, with dividend amounts exceeding 20 million yuan.
