The ecological fish farming base in Xiaobao village, Xishan town, Xifeng county of Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, features over 50 fish ponds arranged in a picturesque manner.

"The real-time data from each fish pond are continuously transmitted to the smart fishery system," said Zhai Bing, head of Guizhou Shuizhiyuan New Agricultural Technology Development. In the central control room of the farming base, water temperature, dissolved oxygen levels, and other data flash on a big screen.

"We use the data to assess and adjust our farming strategies. The smart fishery management system has provided us with great convenience. With just a mobile phone, we can monitor the growth of fish as well as the water quality," Zhai added. Before the installation of the smart fishery system, Zhai used to have to wake up every two hours at night in order to inspect the ponds in person. If power outages or oxygen deficiencies were not detected in time, it would lead to a large number of fish deaths.
