Training session enhances identification of agricultural diseases and pests

To enhance the professional knowledge and practical skills of technical personnel in the fruit industry in Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area, a training session on the identification of orchard diseases and pests was recently held in Guiyang.

Over 90 technical personnel from agriculture and rural affairs bureaus of various districts and counties in Guiyang, as well as technical staff members from the bureau of urban-rural coordinated development of the new area, participated in the training.

The training invited renowned fruit tree experts to deliver lectures. This includes Long Youhua, vice dean of the College of Agriculture at Guizhou University; Wen Xiaopeng, executive vice dean of the Institute of Agricultural Bioengineering at Guizhou University; Pan Xuejun, dean of the College of Agriculture at Guizhou University; and Zhao Zhibo, associate professor at the College of Agriculture at Guizhou University.

During the theoretical classes, Long Youhua focused on the diseases and pests that are common in main fruit trees in Guiyang and Gui'an, sharing years of research experience and findings. During the outdoor practical training classes, Pan Xuejun and Wen Xiaopeng provided in-depth explanations on the prevention and control of diseases and pests in grapes and cherries, as well as summer field management techniques.
