As winter settles in, strawberry farms in Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area, Southwest China's Guizhou province, have entered a critical maintenance period.

To support the industry's healthy growth and improve fruit quality and yield, the Guiyang bureau of agriculture and rural affairs has dispatched technical experts to assist farmers with targeted care strategies.

At Qianfeng Ecological Strawberry Farm in Huaxi district, rows of lush green strawberry plants laden with vibrant red berries promise a bountiful harvest.

Agricultural experts are on-site, providing guidance on temperature control, pest management, and pruning techniques. He Juan from Huaxi's bureau of agriculture and rural affairs emphasized several key practices: maintaining optimal greenhouse temperatures, managing common pests like powdery mildew and spider mites, and ensuring proper irrigation and fertilization at midday to support growth.

With 30 mu (2 hectares) of diverse varieties, the farm is a key base for the district's "Huaxiaomei" brand. Strawberries here are available for picking from November to May.

This year, Guiyang and Gui'an added 2,000 mu of strawberry fields, surpassing 10,000 mu in total, with an expected output value exceeding 500 million yuan ($68.81 million).

Looking ahead, the Guiyang bureau of agriculture and rural affairs plans to collaborate with provincial experts to enhance strawberry breeding and production, driving the industry's growth and helping farmers achieve greater prosperity.
