Guiyang and Gui'an hit key milestones in rural vitalization in 2024

In 2024, Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area firmly prioritized agricultural development, overcoming numerous challenges to push rural vitalization forward.

By year's end, the per capita disposable income of rural residents is expected to exceed 25,000 yuan ($3,411.33), with formerly impoverished people achieving an average net income of over 20,000 yuan, marking solid strides toward agricultural modernization.

Key support policies ensured fundamental goals were met, while specialty industries flourished and rural beautification projects advanced rapidly.

A prime example is Longbao village's modern agricultural demonstration fields, which achieved a record average yield of 652.74 kilograms per mu (0.07 hectare) – a 21.95-percent increase over traditional farming.

The success of locally developed rice varieties further underscored the effectiveness of the "Longbao Grain Farming" model, which combines advanced seeds, machinery, and techniques.

But efforts extended beyond agriculture. Employment workshops absorbed labor forces from resettlement communities, with 22 labor-intensive enterprises providing over 1,500 jobs. Combined with training, entrepreneurship support, and public service roles, the employment rate for relocated labor reached 95.48 percent, ensuring stable incomes for families.

Guiyang and Gui'an also focused on rural living conditions, completing 11 water supply projects, improving waste management systems, and upgrading over 6,900 rural toilets, achieving a 95-percent hygiene coverage rate. Enhanced housing and environmental projects have revitalized villages, preparing them for tourism and sustainable development.

Looking to 2025, Guiyang and Gui'an will deepen rural reforms, strengthen agricultural foundations, and improve rural livelihoods to achieve their goal of a thriving and beautiful countryside.
