Guiyang and Gui'an see flourishing agriculture in 2024

In 2024, Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area made significant strides in advancing agricultural modernization and rural vitalization, achieving breakthroughs in grain production, poverty alleviation, rural industry growth, infrastructure, governance, and farmer income.

Modern agriculture progressed rapidly, with 45 major crop varieties passing provincial certification. The commercial system expanded with 22 county-level projects, three new agricultural supply chain operations, and 40 new supply and sales cooperatives.

The agricultural processing rate reached 66 percent, while the ecological specialty food sector generated 21 billion yuan ($2.86 billion), driven by 57 key processing projects and seven new agricultural product processing enterprises above a designated size.

Rural industries flourished, with 164 enhanced demonstration villages and 12 specialized agricultural towns expanding operations. The "Leading Enterprise+" model connected over 50 percent of townships to provincial agricultural enterprises, while 3,575 rural households became unique family businesses. Additionally, 10,196 rural practical talents and 336 village artisans were trained.

Living environments saw improvement, with 10 rural travel routes and 821 upgraded guest houses hosting 180,000 visits. Meanwhile, 389 new family farms, 2,700 new large-scale growers, and 26 new city-level agricultural enterprises boosted economic resilience.

Rural collective income is expected to reach 1.3 billion yuan in 2024, up 10 percent, while rural residents' per capita disposable income is projected to surpass 25,000 yuan.

Guiyang and Gui'an will remain committed to developing efficient, sustainable mountain agriculture, which will lay a strong foundation for rural vitalization and contribute to China's modernization journey.
