In 2024, Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province achieved remarkable progress in rural tourism, with 139 villages developing the rural vacation industry.
These villages attracted 180,000 summer resort visits in 2024, an 80 percent increase from the previous year. Over 74 percent of visitors were from outside the province, while 31 percent were repeat guests. Approximately 84,700 visitors stayed for over 30 days, highlighting Guiyang and Gui'an's growing appeal.
Villages in Guiyang and Gui'an now offer 11,931 rooms and 20,416 beds, enabling them to cater to diverse traveler needs. Tourism operators' annual incomes have risen significantly, ranging from 40,000 yuan ($5,455.87) to 300,000 yuan. The "Cool Guiyang" brand continues to gain popularity and economic returns.

In Xifeng county's Lyuhua village, charming rural homestays simultaneously welcome over 300 guests, drawing visitors from Sichuan, Hunan, and Chongqing since 2015. Similarly, Huahua town in Yangchang village, Wudang district, hosted over 4,000 tourists in 2024, generating a total revenue of 12 million yuan.
Sustainable development efforts, including clean water systems and waste management, have further solidified Guiyang and Gui'an's reputation as premier rural retreats. With distinct ecological advantages, they have integrated tourism into rural life, creating a robust and multi-tiered industry.
