Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province are making remarkable strides in rural vitalization by blending innovation with practical action to foster growth across the countryside.

In 2024, Guiyang's total agricultural output value reached 36.37 billion yuan ($5.08 billion), a 4.2 percent increase, while rural residents' per capita disposable income grew by 6.9 percent to 25,268 yuan.
Key agricultural projects, including large-scale vegetable bases and rotational farming, have expanded significantly. The city has established 160,000 mu (10,667 hectares) of concentrated eco-friendly vegetable bases, 50,000 mu of "rice + vegetable" rotation fields, and another 50,000 mu of summer-autumn vegetable demonstration bases.

Grain production remained a priority, with 302,000 mu of demonstration fields, modernized farming techniques, and over 61 percent mechanization. Grain cultivation area reached 1.35 million mu, producing 437,200 metric tons and ranking first in Guizhou province in area and output growth.
Guiyang and Gui'an also accelerated seed industry innovation, attracting national-level research labs and enterprises while securing multiple patents and national certifications. Meanwhile, markets thrived with expanded agricultural supply chains, cold storage facilities, and commercial infrastructure.
With strategic investments, policy support, and a commitment to sustainable development, Guiyang and Gui'an continue to pave the way for a prosperous and modernized rural economy.
