The National Conference on Spiritual Civilization Construction was held on May 23 in Beijing, where Chetian village of Huchao Miao and Bouyei township in Gui'an New Area, Southwest China's Guizhou province, was honored as a National Civilized Village.
With its unique ecological environment and proactive development initiatives, Chetian has been pioneering a distinct path for rural vitalization.
In 2019, the village established Gui'an Meili Chetian Tourism Development Co, encouraging villagers to participate in village maintenance and management through asset shares, labor shares, and self-funded projects.
In 2023, it launched a "1+1" mixed-ownership company to operate tourism ventures, such as boat tours and bamboo rafting, boosting the collective economy through unified community efforts.
Then, in 2024, the village partnered with Ben Niu Company to open the Wenxian Valley Scenic Area. It also collaborated with Tianhetan Scenic Area to develop rural markets, floating markets, and bamboo rafting projects.
These tourism developments have attracted visitors and stimulated the local hospitality industry, with villagers now thriving as they harmonize ecological preservation with economic growth, advancing confidently toward a brighter future.
