Chazhi Yahong black tea from Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, captivated international judges with its exceptional quality, securing silver in the black tea (orthodox) category at the 16th Hong Kong International Tea Fair on Aug 15.

As one of Asia's largest tea exhibitions, the fair draws global industry attention, with the international tea competition attracting over 100 premium teas from China, India, Sri Lanka, and beyond to compete across six tea categories.

An international panel of experts conducted blind evaluations based on dry and infused leaf appearance and liquid color, aroma, and taste, with Guizhou's Chazhi Yahong distinguishing itself through this rigorous process.

The tea's success stems from uncompromising quality standards. Made from "Qian Tea No 1" leaves, which use traditional techniques enhanced by modern technology, it features tight, golden-tipped black curls with a bright, sweet aroma and full-bodied flavor. Supported by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the producer implements strict quality control from farm to cup.

Guiyang has expanded production of bulk tea, new tea beverages, and matcha ingredients this year, aiming for 6,600 metric tons. This international accolade signifies world-class recognition for Guizhou tea, accelerating its global market expansion.
