In recent years, Guiyang in Southwest China's Guizhou province has prioritized rural industry development to boost vitalization. By using subsidies and focusing on its strong broiler chicken industry, the city is driving both economic growth and increased incomes.

With its uniform, modern chicken houses, automated feeding systems, and real-time monitoring, the broiler breeding base in Caishui village, Qingzhen county-level city, illustrates the industry's modernization and Guiyang's commitment to high-quality broiler production.

Qingzhen's broiler industry began with large-scale farming in 2004 and has since attracted major companies like Wenshi and Dekang. Today, Qingzhen has developed a comprehensive supply chain and serves not only as a key agricultural supplier for Guiyang but also as the province's top broiler producer, consistently leading in chick output and ecological poultry sales.

Between 2023 and 2025, Qingzhen invested 96.34 million yuan ($13.57 million) in financial connection funds across 51 village broiler projects, constructing 195,610 square meters of new chicken houses. This investment is expected to yield an additional 5.5 million broilers in 2025, boosting average village collective income by 98,000 yuan per breeding site.

To further incentivize growth, Guiyang offers subsidies for new or expanded standard pens. To date, 26 million yuan in municipal subsidies have been allocated to Qingzhen's broiler industry through a "build first, subsidize later" program, lowering the initial investment barrier for farmers.
