New rice variety lifts yields in Gui'an New Area

In Guizhou, golden rice fields are ushering in a season of harvest. In Longbao village, Gaofeng town of Gui'an New Area, 1,300 mu (86.67 hectares) of the newly developed Taifengyou 79 variety, bred by the Guizhou Rice Research Institute, showed remarkable yields.

Expert measurements revealed that the highest yield per mu reached 932.6 kilograms, with an average of 697.1 kilograms, an increase of 6.80 percent from previous years.

The new variety is expected to raise farmers' incomes by 82.1 yuan per mu, bringing both prosperity and joy to the harvest season.
