Thirty circular fish ponds are set into the landscape like mirrors at Jiangshengyuan Ecological Agriculture Co's bass aquaculture base in Laowo village, Xifeng county, Guiyang.

These ponds utilize pure mountain spring water and water from the Wengtong River for their aquaculture, ensuring the production of exceptional ecological bass, which are supplied not only to cities within the province, such as Guiyang, Zunyi, and Bijie, but also to regions such as Chengdu and Chongqing.

Since its establishment in 2019, the base has continuously expanded its operations. In the first three quarters of this year, its output reached 250,000 kilograms, with its annual output value projected to exceed 15 million yuan ($2.11 million).

The farm currently boasts an effective aquaculture area of over 30,000 square meters and is equipped with modern facilities like liquid oxygen tanks, aerators, and automatic feeders. A five-stage ecological purification system has also been implemented to ensure that wastewater undergoes multiple processes, including microfiltration, sedimentation, and adsorption, meeting discharge standards before release.

In recent years, Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area have driven the transformation of traditional aquaculture towards intelligent, standardized, and large-scale operations. They are now home to 58 ecological fishery businesses, which cultivate a diverse range of species, including sturgeon, grass carp, common carp, silver carp, bighead carp, bass, channel catfish, and Pacific white shrimp.
