Xiuwen county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, utilized its mountainous resources during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–25) to build a branded, modernized mountain agriculture system, boosting rural vitalization.‌

As a national pilot county for agricultural modernization, Xiuwen prioritized kiwifruit production, establishing the province's largest kiwifruit germplasm repository, introducing and optimizing varieties, promoting green and standardized cultivation practices, and controlling fruit quality at the source.‌

The county's kiwifruit production reached 110,000 metric tons, with sales exceeding 95 percent through direct sales, wholesale, offline retail, and e-commerce livestreaming, and its brand value exceeding 3 billion yuan ($429.1 million).‌

The county developed 12 summer-autumn vegetable specialty villages, two grain-vegetable rotation planting villages, and six mushroom cultivation demonstration bases, ensuring a stable vegetable supply. Vegetable planting areas remained above 410,000 mu (27,333 hectares), and annual output exceeded 700,000 tons, valued at 2.5 billion yuan. Grain production was also secured with 98,400 mu of high-standard farmland, ensuring a stable yearly output of over 60,000 tons.‌

Livestock production improved with 39 smart pig farms, three "company + pig farm" projects, and six beef cattle expansion initiatives. Agricultural technology advanced, with 20,000 mu of drone-based pest control and a comprehensive mechanization rate exceeding 60 percent for major crops. The county was also recognized as a national pilot county for agricultural modernization.
