Maige township in Qingzhen county-level city, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, is promoting the use of Bacillus subtilis fermentation bed microbial strains.

This new technology addresses odor issues in small-scale livestock sheds, enables efficient use of animal waste, and accelerates the ecological transformation of local farming practices.

The fermentation bed microbial strains utilize livestock manure and urine as natural nutrient sources. During decomposition, they generate heat that helps maintain stable shed temperatures, while the resulting microbial protein serves as a natural nutritional supplement for the animals. Additionally, the used bed material can be directly applied as high-quality organic fertilizer in agricultural planting.

By eliminating livestock odors at their source, the technology also establishes an ecological closed-loop system: "livestock farming – waste treatment – planting – livestock farming." This creates a cycle of "waste – microorganism – nutrients" and helps reduce the incidence of livestock diseases. As a result, both environmental protection and operational efficiency are enhanced.

Moving forward, Maige plans to scale up the technology across the region. By guiding more livestock farmers to adopt it, the township aims to help them achieve the dual goals of environmental compliance and efficiency gains, thereby strengthening the ecological foundation for rural vitalization and green agricultural development.
