The "Going to the Countryside for the Chinese New Year" launch ceremony was held on Jan 18 in Wanggang village, Wudang district, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

Festivities were in full swing, including folk parades, Chinese New Year fairs, and dragon dance performances. Traditional customs like writing Spring Festival couplets, pounding glutinous rice cakes, and grinding tofu, combined with intangible cultural heritage skills such as Fengxiang dyeing and basket painting, created a vibrant and festive atmosphere.

The "Going to the Countryside for the New Year" event will continue until March. During this time, Gui'an New Area and other districts, county-level cities, and counties will organize a variety of Chinese New Year-themed activities, including rural cuisine showcases, intangible cultural heritage demonstrations, hot spring experiences, and markets for trendy New Year goods.

In recent years, Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area have been working together to improve the rural living environment and promote social customs reform, making the countryside not just more beautiful, but also more culturally vibrant, allowing traditional culture to flourish in the new era.

Looking ahead, Guiyang and Gui'an will seize this event as an opportunity to showcase the richness of fine cultures at traditional festivals. This will help ethnic culture to thrive in the new era, providing ongoing cultural momentum to support rural vitalization.
