In recent years, Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province have transformed their ecological advantages into drivers of development, promoting the integration of agriculture and tourism in rural areas. This has improved living environments, beautifying villages and invigorating industries, turning green mountains and lush waters into valuable assets.

Yangchang village in Wudang district relies on Huahua Town Scenic Area to develop a thriving summer resort industry. More than 120 households in the village have developed homestays and agritainment, offering nearly 3,000 beds. In 2025, the village received over 5,000 visits, with villagers' per capita annual income reaching 26,000 yuan ($3,741.23).

To tackle the challenge of the winter tourism off-season, Guiyang and Gui'an launched the "Going to the Countryside for the Chinese New Year" rural tourism campaign. Guiyang's nine districts (county-level cities and counties) and Gui'an each developed unique thematic events, offering diverse winter travel experiences.

Guiyang and Gui'an have been dedicated to building the "Cool Guiyang" brand and have established 10 rural resort industry belts. To date, they have put 2,597 resort farmhouses into operation across 273 villages, attracting over 300,000 visits. This initiative has created nearly 11,000 local jobs and boosted average household income by more than 22,000 yuan.
