Qingzhen, a county-level city in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has implemented the "one village, one product, one streamer" initiative to bolster rural vitalization. By opening new sales channels and diversifying product supply, this initiative extends the industrial chain and creates a vital link between local resources and external markets.
As China's first National Big Data Comprehensive Pilot Zone, Guizhou has built a formidable digital foundation. By October 2025, the province had installed 126,000 5G base stations, achieving gigabit optical network access in every township.
With 100 percent coverage of fiber-optic broadband and 5G in administrative villages, and over 99.5 percent connectivity in villages, Guizhou has established a comprehensive digital network across its rural landscape, leading to a rise in livestreaming.
With a provincial internet user base exceeding 30 million and a steadily growing rural user base, purchasing produce and exploring rural tourism through short-form videos and livestreams have become daily habits for many, bolstering livestreamed sales.
From January to November 2025, Guizhou's rural online retail sales reached 25.37 billion yuan ($3.71 billion), a year-on-year increase of 32.81 percent, with online retail sales of agricultural products totaling 4.49 billion yuan, up 5.8 percent from the previous year.
