Supported by modern agricultural machinery, Longbao village in Gaofeng town, Gui'an New Area, is seizing the spring farming season, with local authorities implementing measures centered on improved seeds, management, pest control, mechanization, and efficiency. These efforts are boosting rural development and creating a new path for win-win outcomes in both grain production and collective economic growth.

Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area developed an innovative "five optimizations" grain production model in recent years. As a result, both total grain output and yield growth rank among the top in the province, with average rice yields exceeding the provincial average by 50.5 kilograms per mu (0.07 hectares).

In 2025, Longbao established 3,163 mu of demonstration fields, with rice yields reaching 697.1 kg per mu. The locally selected Taifengyou 79 variety achieved a peak yield of 939.4 kg per mu, setting a provincial record for high-yield self-developed premium rice varieties.

Agricultural mechanization now exceeds 90 percent, while average planting costs per mu have been reduced by 38 percent compared to those in traditional smallholder farming. The combination of small-scale mountain machinery and autonomous equipment has also addressed long-standing mechanization challenges in Guizhou's mountainous agriculture.

Longbao has now adopted a benefit-sharing model integrating "leading enterprises + new agricultural business entities + village collective economy + farmers." Through moderate-scale land management and transfer, 3,298 mu of farmland has been consolidated, achieving a transfer rate of 91 percent.

Farmers now benefit from diversified incomes of land lease payments, wages, and dividends, resulting in an average household income increase of over 4,000 yuan ($585). Per-mu income has risen from 1,500 yuan to over 7,000 yuan, while the village's collective economy has seen annual income growth exceeding 500,000 yuan.
